ABOUT
VENNEXA began with a pattern.
Across healthcare, business, and complex decision-making, the same problem kept appearing: systems captured part of reality and then treated that representation as complete.
VENNEXA was created to study what those systems leave out, particularly the relationships, conditions, and patterns that shape how people and systems actually function.
Founded by Sara Julian
Sara Julian is a writer, systems thinker, and the founder of VENNEXA. Her work is grounded in an ability to recognize patterns across disciplines and see connections among information, relationships, and lived experience that are often considered separately.
Her perspective draws from the study of entomology, organizational culture, and human relationships, as well as a career spanning commercial-facing roles in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and genetic testing. It has also been shaped by years spent navigating complex healthcare systems while caring for her parents. These experiences led her to examine how systems construct reality, how certainty takes hold, and what becomes possible when we remain open long enough to see more.
Through VENNEXA, she is developing Applied Relational Science and its first domain, Relational Oncology. She is also the author of the forthcoming book Holding Complexity: The Courage to Get It Right.
What guides the work
VENNEXA begins with several commitments:
Representation is not reality.
Every model, diagnosis, category, and measurement captures something real, but none captures the whole.
Relationships belong inside the picture.
What happens between people, information, institutions, conditions, and moments in time can shape a system as powerfully as its individual parts.
Coherence matters more than certainty.
The goal is to develop the capacity to remain open, perceive more of what is present, and act in a way that reflects the fuller structure.
